Borde Hill Gardens Proms - August 2003

In the summer of 2003 Hangleton played to a crowd of five thousand people at an outside proms concert supporting the English Symphony Orchestra. After playing as the supporting act, many members stayed on to enjoy the fireworks, spitfire flyover and general flag waving in the beautiful countryside setting.


Band Barbeque - August 2003

The third annual band barbeque at the Hangleton Manor was notable this year because it stayed sunny and dry all day! This years entertainment was in the form of life-sized table football, badminton, volleyball and the old school sports day favorite, the egg and spoon race...


Folkestone Band Contest - October 2003

In October the band played 'Occasions' in the second section at the SCABA contest in Folkestone. In turned out to be a very successful day the band came fourth, and Christine Nonoo won the best conductor trophy. Afterwards many members stayed over for the night to enjoy the delights of Folkestone after dark. A very good night was had by all judging by the sorry looking lot who emerged for breakfast the next morning!


Christmas Concert - December 2003

As usual the Christmas Concert had some had some very special celebrity guests. Unfortunately (but maybe fortunately for David, Clair, Rebecca and Cees) there is no photographic evidence of Austin Powers and friends. However Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer also put in an appearance, and he proved to be far less camera shy!


Christmas Meal - December 2003

In December the band Christmas meal was held at the Imperial Hotel in Hove. The meal also incorporated the third annual Hangleton Band Awards - like the BAFTAs but better, presented by Su Lines and Richard Aitken. This years catagories included 'the most family members in one section award' (winner: the Von Taylor family), the 'most competitive sportsman award' (winner: Christine Nonoo), and the 'best international relations award' (winner: Jenni 'don't mention the Belgians' Farrow) ...
